1950's winchester engravers - kusmit
Does anyone out there have any experience with identification of engraving done by the Kusmits? Have a 42 engraved in 12-5 with grouse as the birds on both sides.

Serial number indicates it was made in 1956, Is there any way to determine who engraved it. I have seen some of Nick Kusmits work, seems he initialed some and not others. This one is not initaled.

Fred, have you looked at the Wilson book "The Book of Winchester Engraving"? Has some Kusmit works in it. Sam

There is only one person I know of that can confirm original Winchester engraved firearms and was the last Winchester in house engraver and the only female engraver employed in the plant--that person is PAULINE MUERLLE--1852 Durham Road--Guilford,CT 06437--Yes she still engraves at her home in CT and her engraving speaks for itself.Hope this answers your question.
