Check Off Box vs. Signature
|
A question has arose that I would like your comments and vote on.
Website new membership application : signature or check off box
As I understand it....this is the way it now works.
If somebody sends in a membership via the website, we send them a application
to be signed that they "understand that acceptance of the code of Ethics is a requirement for membership".....
They can request "Not to be included on the mailing list "(Privacy notice)
The proposal is to change this from a signature to a check off box that can be
emailed with payment. I see no problem with this unless someone else sees
an issue. This should make memberships faster and easier to process
I would appreciate Officers input......especially Bill Gamradt....who will be setting
this up, and Shannon who will be working with it on a day to day basis.
Please email me and other officers with your comments or use the Board of Dir.
forum on the FEGA website. I would like to have all votes into me by Sept. 9th.
Thanks,
Bob Strosin

FEGA Officers,
The check off boxes would accomplish what we want so they have my vote. Using check off boxes (or an “I accept the Terms” type statement) should make processing the memberships faster and easier for Shannon and also for our new members. I would be glad to make the change.
Also, I am wondering, now while the issue has come up, about who our mailing list is sent out to. I have noticed our new membership form has had the following added:
PRIVACY NOTICE: Members of the Guild occasionally request our membership list, including your contact information (name, address, phone, & email). We send a printed version by mail. You may request NOT to be included on this list, by checking here. _____
Shannon, could you explain to us who our mailing list is sent to and why, just so we can better understand the statement? Is the list sent to members simply wanting to know of other members in their area or is it also sent to companies or businesses looking for engravers? Do we need to modify the statement?
