Scroll book help !!!
|
Hello new to the site
was thinking of buying the scroll books by ron smith
My question is do you need both books, are they like a series
or is the latest book (advanced drawing of scrolls) an accumulation of all his work
so far. I also note the soft cover is no longer sold?
thanks in advance for any advice

Hi Paul and welcome.
Both of Ron's books are great and I treasure them.
I think you would be in good shape just having his second book however, if money is a consideration at this time.
Get them both if you can afford them. Engraving books always seem to become collector item at some point.
Just my thoughts, best of luck. John. |

I agree with john Barraclough - if you can afford both of Ron's books you should have them. I have mine close at hand all the time. Even after all these years at the engraving bench I refer to those books - mostly when I get stuck on a scroll pattern or need some inspiration about developing new scroll patterns. There are no other resources that will serve you so well as you study and learn about scrolls.
