engravers marks
I am trying to locate the name of an engraver that used the mark JJ-< . I have a winchester engraved by this individual probably from around the 1970's. Is there a reference available that has engraver marks and names. Phil

Phil..I may be the one you are looking for..I sign everything with a double J and with a handle which appears like a branding iron...I would like to know what kind of Winchester it is, where you got it, and part of the country you are from so that I can place the gun in my mind, and may be able to tell you for whom I did it for. If, you can supply a picture that would be great.

Yours truly,

Thank You for your response , I think you are correct in that you may have engraved this firearm. The winchester I have I got from an estate sale in Pennsylvania, it is a model 1894 , cal. 32-40 carbine. Iwould like to e-mail you some pictures. My e-mail is philboll@comcast.net. I look forward to hearing from you.
