Topic: Engraved S and W Mod 28 non-factory.  Number of Responses: 1

This is a Smith and Wesson Highway Patrolman early 5 screw, I had it lettered from the factory. They said it shipped to Portland Oregon in 1955 and was not engraved at the factory, I bought it from a relatives estate sale in Illinois in 2003 for 300 dollars. Would you be able to give a thought as to who engraved this pistol from the pics? The screw heads are engraved with a fluting type pattern if that helps, was never able to find any mark or initials even with the help of a magnifying lens.

Howdy,

I was recently contacted about engraving a Kahr P45 Stainless slide. Does anyone have any experience with these regarding how they cut? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks for your time-

Topic: Henry Yuswak engraver, Worked for A. A. White, any info????  Number of Responses: 0

Does anyone know of Henry Yuswak, Russian immigrant and engraver. Appears he worked for A.A.White of New York and possibly as a contract engraver. Henry lived from 1925-1987, if I have the right Henry. Picking up pieces of info on the AAWhite engravers. Anyone have info on that company also. Appreciate your response. Randy

I would like to know if anyone out there has engraved a Weatherby Orion, and were ther any problems with it being too hard, like the Ruger pistols?

Topic: Engraver magazine #80  Number of Responses: 0

It’s that time again………….I’m gearing up to start work on the latest Engraver magazine.

So………..if you have any work that you want to be shown in the “Around the Traps” section please send me the photos. It can be guns, knives, jewellery, or anything that you are working on or finished. This is to recognise the fact that the FEGA members work on all sorts of projects and are a diverse bunch of talented people.

You must be a FEGA member and the photos have to be of good quality, clear, crisp and in focus. Plus as big as possible. I’ll do all the photo manipulation like cropping, sizing, adjusting colours etc so you don’t have to worry about that.

If in doubt…………send them anyway and I’ll soon let you know if they can be published.

Plus I will always receipt your e-mails so if you haven’t had a reply from me within a few days then re-send the photos as they may have disappeared into the ether somewhere.

My email address is biggschristchurch@xtra.co.nz

Cheers
Andrew

Topic: Engraved Walther PP  Number of Responses: 4

I have a Walther PP that I purchased. I've done research in blue book and online but cannot find the origin or engraver of this gun. It looks to be WWII has a Nazi eagle (Nitro I think). This appears to have been done during fabrication, but possibly post production. If anyone can provide details or has any knowledge in this area, please post in the forum.

Picture attached (with Serial Number)

Thank you,

Topic: 1950's winchester engravers - kusmit  Number of Responses: 2

Does anyone out there have any experience with identification of engraving done by the Kusmits? Have a 42 engraved in 12-5 with grouse as the birds on both sides.

Serial number indicates it was made in 1956, Is there any way to determine who engraved it. I have seen some of Nick Kusmits work, seems he initialed some and not others. This one is not initaled.

Topic: Orvile Kuhl  Number of Responses: 3

I am looking for information on Orvile (or Orville) Kuhl, a firearms engraver who reportedly engraved many guns for clients of the King Gunsight Company, and for photos of examples of guns that he engraved.

Unfortunately, there is very little information that I could find from the "web". I came across one example of a Colt Woodsman with engraving attributed to Mr. Kuhl. Also, I am in the process of obtaing a Smith&Wesson revolver whose engraving is attributed to Mr. Kuhl. This revolver is accomanied by an old yellowed card from Kuhl and Kuhl comany that provides instructions on how to care for an engraved gun.

I would like to learn more about Mr. Kuhl and the guns he engraved. If anyone can provide info or leads, it would be greatly appreciated.
