Topic: Identifying an engraver  Number of Responses: 1

I have a 1972 Smith & Wesson .38 special Model 60 SS that has been engraved by someone, who I'm trying to find more information about. I have photos, and have written to S&W who have stated that the engraving is done post-factory. The engraver has stamped "Engraved By Shannon" on the right grip housing. Is there any other way to find out information as to who "Shannon" is?

Topic: Engraver Magazine issue #79  Number of Responses: 0

Hi Everyone

I'll be starting the editing work in the next few days on the latest Engraver magazine.

So......................

Professional, amateur, hobbyist. It doesn’t matter just so long as you're a FEGA member. It can be a gun, knife, jewellery, musical instrument or whatever you happen to have engraved lately.

If you would like your work shown in the "around the traps" section please send me a good quality photo. My e-mail is biggschristchurch@xtra.co.nz Please ensure that the photo/photos are good quality. If in doubt send it anyway and I’ll let you know if it can be printed or not.

Cheers
Andrew

Topic: Engraver Shannon  Number of Responses: 0

Hello,
I had to delete the message about engraver Shannon as it had quotation marks in the title and screws up the web site. Please post again without these.
Sorry,
Rex

Topic: Scroll book help !!!  Number of Responses: 2

Hello new to the site
was thinking of buying the scroll books by ron smith
My question is do you need both books, are they like a series
or is the latest book (advanced drawing of scrolls) an accumulation of all his work
so far. I also note the soft cover is no longer sold?

thanks in advance for any advice
Paul

Topic: Blue/Rust Remover  Number of Responses: 1

One more item that can be used for blue/rust removal is a product that I found in Home Depot. It is made by Klean Strip and is called Phosphoric Prep & Etch. Just like regualr blue remover (and Marty's toilet bowl cleaner) it is phosphoric acid and takes the blue and rust off a lot faster than naval jelly and with a whole lot less elbow grease. The one quart container was about $6.00. (Please follow the instructions and precautions.)

Topic: Certified Professional Engraver  Number of Responses: 8

In looking to have some engraving done, I found this site and a number of engravers that use "Certified Professional Engraver" in their names. I'm curious as to who does the certification and what it entails. Does one have to present samples of ones work, or is certification a bit easier to attain?
Thanks in advance.

Topic: Chasing Hammer Heads  Number of Responses: 4

Hi Steven

And welcome to FEGA. I had the privelidge of engraving one of those hammer heads just recently for John Rohner. I'm pretty sure that they are made of mild steel. It was very easy to engrave. The overall length measures 47mm and the face has a diameter of 23mm.

Cheers
Andrew

Topic: Rudolph Kornbluth (?)  Number of Responses: 3

Many (about 45)years ago, I spent many hours with a library book featuring the firearms engraving artistry of a man whose name I best now recall was Rudolph Kornbluth. Did web searches using all the variations of both names I could think of and found nothing.

As I recall, most of his work was done in the early 1900's, and I remember being totally awe-struck by the images of his work.

Has anybody heard of him, or have I mis-remembered his named?

Thanks in advance for any info. Cheers
