Topic: Gravermax w/handpieces for sell  Number of Responses: 2

I'm selling a Gravermax with 2 hammer handpieces and 1 high speed rotary handpiece. It also comes with the throttle foot control and a foot speed control for the rotary handpiece. I'm selling this for the family of a friend who past away. He was a jeweler and this is part of the estate. I don't know much about it except that it is all intact and funtions when attached to an air supply. The hammer handpieces do not have bits, however, the rotary handpiece has one bit with it. Asking price is $800 and the buyer pays actual shipping. Contact me at mhutch2@kc.rr.com if interested. I can email photos. Thanks.

Topic: Ron Smith's New Book "Advanced Drawing"  Number of Responses: 0

I just purchased his book and have found it to be EXCELLENT and worth every penney! I thank Ron for having taken his time to write the book and do hope everyone takes advantage of what he has provided us. I am a beginning metal engraver, but have been an artist and professional calligrapher for many years, but found this to be exceptionally enlightening and would highly recommend it to anyone! Thanks, Ron! GREAT WORK!

Topic: Transfer pictures from laser printer/copier  Number of Responses: 4

Being somewhat of a computer nerd I have been making drawings by hand and scanning them or drawing on the computer itself.
Then use a laser printer or copier and transfer the images to practice plates using acetone.

Anyone have any suggestions for getting the transfers using this method to be as clear as possible? Does the practice plate need any special prep other than a good sanding? Does a certain brand or type of acetone work better than another?

Thanks,

Kevin

Topic: Newby - Practice Items  Number of Responses: 10

New to engraving and new member but very glad to be here. Attended training last month with a great instructor (our FEGA President).

I'm spending a few hours each day making a mess of practice plates with lots of scrolls but I find myself wanting to move on to other things. Is this a bad idea or should I work on some scrolls and then work on some other items? If so what things will help me improve wihtout tryiing to do something too difficult. It's easy for me to want to move to something else when things get frustrating.

Thanks.
