Topic: Engraved Savage 1899  Number of Responses: 3

Hello All,

I have a engraved Savage and would like to know if anyone can help me find out who may have engraved it. I will post some pictures. I was told the rifle was made in 1913 and that is all the history I have on the rifle.

Thank you
Dave

Topic: Robert Kain Engraver  Number of Responses: 6

I have a opportunity to purchase this pair of Ruger Single-Six revolvers. They are part of a 40 gun project done for Ruger Collectors Association done in 1983 and 1984. The 20 spanish and 20 Jerred copies of the originals done in the 1954 to 1957.

I did find a little information on the engraver in C.Roger Bleile's book American Engraver. I wonder if other members could provide other insights into Robert C, Kain

Topic: Source for Used Microscopes  Number of Responses: 0

I recently purchased a used B&L/Leica stereo microscope (on Ebay). I received a good product & was treated very fairly.

I told the seller my needs, as an engraver, & he seemed to go out of his way to accommodate my questions & concerns about spacing, etc.

I can't guarantee anything, but if you would like to contact him . . . his name is Bruce Heckbert & his e-mail address is: lbheckbert@comcast.net.

Please, inform him of your spacing & magnification needs, as an engraver.

It might also help to tell him that Ron Foster, another engraver, was very happy with a recent purchase & recommended his products.

Good Luck,

Ron

Topic: Matte lacquer finish trouble  Number of Responses: 2

I am in the process of finishing a engraving on a sharps 74. I have been trying to use Matte Lacquer as a finish. I have seen this done by Ron smith and other to create a very attractive finish. However, when I tried it the finish was very dark and it obstructed the engraving to a great degree. The can of lacquer I had was a few years old but still seemed to function pretty well. The finish did not look at all like most of the ones Iv 'e seen. Is there more than one source for bake on matte lacquer or what ? Can anybody give me some advise on this ??
Gloss really looks bad on this gun.

Topic: FEGA Regional Show  Number of Responses: 0

Our Vice President Joe Rundell is trying to put together a FEGA regional show in Novi Michigan April 24-25.
This would be a get together for FEGA members as well as other interested people.
Tables would be available to FEGA members however anyone is welcome to show up and visit.
Joe isn't real computer friendly yet so if anyone is interested, please post here or contact me via e-mail at fega@fega.com.

This would be a great chance for those not able to make Reno to get a chance to visit with other members. I'm sure Joe will have his award winning shotgun with him!

Topic: Kornbrath photos  Number of Responses: 4

This message was posted for the owner....

Thought you might like to see or post some photos of Kornbrath engraving on a Baker Elite from 1915-1919:

Can anyone tell me if there is deterioration of the metal at the bottom left of the left duck and what I should do to stop it.

In general, what should be done to preserve the engraving?

Topic: Issue 80 of the ENGRAVER  Number of Responses: 2

Issue #80 of the ENGRAVER has been mailed out today to you FEGA members.
I don't know how Andrew does it but he manages to keep pounding members for GREAT articles!
I would think most of you in the USA should have it by the end of the week or early next week. If not, better check to make sure your membership is still current!

This is my own version of Ruger's Single -Six done for me by Steve clouser in 1994

I talked with Steve awhile back, he is still doing some trophy and award plaques but he isn't doing any more gun engraving due to his age.
